Cut Through the Crap – Ad of the Week : Go Ho Ho – Gap 2009 Holiday Commercial

30 Nov
2009

The thing that inspires me most about Crispin Porter + Bogusky is the way they manage to let their work speak for itself,  This is how they gain more new business. It’s very  impressive and I really wish more and more creative decisions were made this way.

CP+B`s new campaign for Gap was recently launched on TV.  The agency won it after the wildly successful, sales-driving campaign that it has run for the Gap`s sister company. Old Navy. (click here for a great video from the campaign done True Hollywood Story style).

I immediately enjoyed it as it makes the brand interesting again. Only adding to my enjoyment, is the fact that,  according to this blog , Pharell from the Neptunes did the music to the new commercial. This to me = Brilliant.  Hip Hop is the driving force in pop culture and those who get over their fear of the industry can reap the benefits and CP+B is showing this to everyone.

Note – according to CNBC, sales are already up at the beleaguered retailer, so something is working.
